image4Howdy Everybody!

My name is Saara Gratschev and I am 21-year-old second year student in Turku School of Economics. I’ve been born in Hämeenlinna, but I have without doubt found my place in Turku. I have definitely made most of my student life by experiencing tons of things; pub crawls, sports team, Baltic Sea cruise, international students tutoring and
company excursions to mention. I have been really impressed by the wide variety of high-quality student events in Turku. I am kind of person, who prefers participating and trying everything rather than staying home. In free time activities I have got to know an endless number of new people. I am looking forward upcoming year. As a chair of Committee for International Affairs in Association of Economics Students in Turku I want to ensure that the international students will experience the colourful student life of Turku with all the Finnish students. As a former exchange student I can say that international students are quite cool kids, so don’t hesitate participating our events on the following year!

image2Hi, my name is Petronella Toikkanen and I’m vice-chairman of CIA
TuKY for 2017. I’m a second year student majoring in accounting and finance. Originally I’m from Espoo. I moved to Turku last fall and so far I have loved our school and my new home town very much. On my free time I like to just hang out with friends and go to the gym. You can spot me in various group sporting lessons at Educarium. I love travelling and like to go and experience different cultures as often as possible. I’m currently in Vietnam for the holidays so I’m writing this by the poolside (+30 degrees, not complaining). I hope to see you next year at CIA’s events!

My name is Lisette Jaakola and I am the Communication and Art image3Director of CIA. I’m a 21-year-old freshman originated right here from Turku. I’m an outgoing person always ready to try new things. I am mostly known for my outstandingly great (bad) sense of humor. I love travelling, getting to know to new cultures and meeting new people. I myself have spent a year as an exchange student in the mecca of corn fields, in the United States, Kansas. It definitely was an unforgettable experience. On my free time I love hanging out with my friends, going to the gym and of course attending all kinds of student events from excursions to pub crawls. Student life in Turku is incredible and definitely a great way to connect with new people and gain new experiences. I am so excited meeting all of you in our upcoming events!

Hey.  I’m Matias Mäkinen and I work as the treasurer of the CIA. I’m image5most likely going to take accounting & finance
as my minor subject and I hope this task provides some practical work along with great memories. In other words, I’m looking forward to meeting the new exchange students, organizing our budget and planning our parties and events. I like sports, movies, gaming, history and travelling. I’d consider myself an easily approachable person –so to all exchange students reading this– don’t hesitate to contact any of the board members. I’ve enjoyed my first autumn in Turku: It’s a lovely city which in my opinion offers one of the best, if not the best, university communities in Finland. We have an open-minded atmosphere in our CIA team and I think we’re all excited about next year.

Hello everybody. My name is Noel Snygg and I’m the corporate image1relations manager of CIA for 2017. I’m originally from Tampere but I decided to apply to TSE because of the international business program offered here and because I wanted to see the world beyond Tampere for myself. Turku has turned out to be a great city to study so I haven’t
regretted my decision for a second. When it comes to hobbies, I’m really into gaming, which is pretty obvious since I spend about 90% of my free time on the computer. I also recently started MMA fighting, which has been great fun so far. It’s good exercise and it nicely balances out sitting on the computer all day long. On the studying side of things, I’m really interested in international business. I think the courses have been very interesting so far and I can absolutely recommend them to anyone, whether you’re an exchange student or a local. It probably comes as no surprise that I’m planning on taking international business as my major. I’ve also liked information systems science so far, so I’ll most likely be taking it as a minor. I’m really excited for next year and I hope to see you all in the upcoming CIA events.

Hi! I’m Anni Sahlberg a 20-year-old freshman and I’ll be theimage6 secretary of the CIA board 2017. I consider myself a very outgoing person and I enjoy meeting new people and getting to know different cultures. I had one of the best years of my life as an exchange student in the United States 2013/2014. It was such an unforgettable and life-enriching experience that it inspired me to pursue a career in international trade, that’s why I’m studying international business and logistics. Sports, especially volleyball and lacrosse, also play a big role in my life. If you see me around please come to say hi! I’m looking forward to have a great year with the CIA and you all!

Hello! My name is Lauri Lehtinen and I’m the marketing coordinator image7of CIA. I was born and raised in Tampere but I
chose Turku School of Economics because of the international business program they offer here. And I must say that choosing to study in Turku was one of the best decisions I’ve made in my life because Turku is a magnificent city for a university student. I’ve spent a year abroad in the US as an exchange student and it was an unforgettable memory! I played football, ice hockey and golf there. My great experience abroad was one of the reasons why I applied for the CIA because I would like to make sure that international students here would have the best experience possible too. I’m really into sports and my hobbies include golf, tennis and soccer but my real passion is ice hockey which I’ve played for my whole life. Now I play for our school’s team KY-Jets as a goalie. I’m really excited for next year and I can’t wait to see you all in our upcoming spectacular events that you don’t want to miss!
